More Than Natural

When one thinks of living a life that is Supernatural they most likely think of the gifts of the Spirit first. This actually is not the first part to living a Supernatural Life.  Living a Supernatural Life begins by having the Spirit of God living on the inside of us. When we have the Spirit of God flowing through us we are able to live a fruitful life.  Without the fruit of the Spirit the gifts of the Spirit are all done in vain.  To produce good fruit we must seek God so He can produce good fruit in us.

In turn if we want to be effective in the gifts of the Spirit we must have a continual connection to God through prayer, reading the Bible and meditation on the Word.  Just as it is unbalanced to only be involved with the things of the Spirit without the Word of God we must also be seeking the things of the Spirit and not just gaining knowledge from the Word of God.  One without the other causes extremes.  Those who only focus on the manifestations of the Spirit will not have a measuring stick (The Bible) to help them stay in bounds.  Those who only focus on the word of God and not the Spirit of God will cause religious pride to take over.  When we merge the two together we are in perfect balance; that is if we merge the two correctly.

When we are balanced with the Word and the Spirit we then can confidently walk in the supernatural.  When I first got saved I was very scared about sharing the gospel.  I believed that if I did not understand the entire Bible then I was not qualified to tell others about the love of God.  This was a lie from the enemy. Even though it is important to know the word of God you should not let a lack of head knowledge limit you from preaching the gospel, healing the sick and allowing God to encounter the lost through you.  The Spirit of God will lead you and fill your mouth with the words to speak. Just as Matthew 10:19-20 says, “When you are arrested, don’t worry about how to respond or what to say. God will give you the right words at the right time. For it is not you who will be speaking-it will be the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.”

Instead of worrying about what to say and how people will respond to you, be obedient to God and take risk.  Something I have heard many times is, FAITH is spelled R.I.S.K. There have been many times I have witnessed to a person about the love of God and through taking risk and stepping out, God has brought to my remembrance scriptures I have read.  There are also times where God will speak through me using words of knowledge and words of wisdom.  When we live balancedlives and take risk God will use us in supernatural ways.  God is willing to use everyone in the gifts and does not withhold them from those who ask.  If you want to live a supernatural lifestyle you must resolve to live out side the norm.

With all that being said I want to share an encouraging story of an encounter I had.  One day a few of the young adults decided to go on a “Treasure Hunt” which is where we pray and ask God for divine appointments.  We then write down what each of us hear and head out to our appointments.  Well, on this specific instance one person in our group heard Journey’s. God gave us a location so we headed to Journey’s to see if we could speak to someone about God.  Once we got there one of the employees asked us what we were up to. We told her about our Treasure Hunt and she was curious and actually asked us for prayer.  We were able to pray for her and while we prayed for her God gave us a word about her being in nursing school and being overwhelmed with the workload and finances. This was not information that she had given us.  What we were hearing was correct and the woman was blown away that God was speaking to her through us.  She actually started talking about needing to go back to church and getting right with God. It was an amazing experience. This may not happen every time we go out but it is amazing what God does through our obedience.  God doesn’t judge us on the outcome, that is out of our control.  Let this story challenge you to go farther in your walk.

I challenge you to wake up each morning, invite Holy Spirit to speak to you and guide you through out your day.  For example one thing I pray is, “Holy Spirit lead me to an encounter with others so they can encounter you. I command my soul, spirit and mind to abide by the Spirit of God and align with God’s word.”  You can pray what is on your heart but that is just an example of what you can pray.  Once you ask Holy Spirit to lead you; listen! Listening is so important.  Whatever you feel Holy Spirit is saying write it down. It could be anything, just be sure to use the Bible as your measuring stick.  You do not want to speak something that is not backed up by scripture. Maybe God gives you a name, date or location of a divine appointment. Just remember to listen through out your day to what God is showing you.  So many missed divine appointments are because we are not continually aware of Holy Spirit.  So be aware, listen and take risk.  Let’s live by Jesus example.

John 5:19 “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.”
